The importance of knowing the design process from Idea through Presentation

How much value is a designer if a print shop has to spend hours preparing her files for production? My most recent design job allowed me to be involved in the sign making process from the customer’s first call, all the way to delivering the finished product by hand when needed. ┬áReceiving files from designers who are not familiar with contour cuts, bleeds, substrates, etc. and preparing them for production developed skills that are highly valued. Below are some examples of large-scale and mass-output jobs that I have done. All of these projects are designed by other companies and executed in very short time frames.
